122mm Illuminating Roundwith Reduced Charge

The I-122-R round with a reduced charge is fitted with an I-122 illuminating grenade.

The I-122 grenade represents a body containing an illuminating body and a parachute system, which during flight are ejected in the direction opposite to the flight direction. Once the parachute system has deployed, it begins to descend at a uniform rate to the earth surface.

The system illuminates suddenly the terrain, featuring the following advantages over the other means of illumination:

  • located within a short distance from the illuminated object;
  • illuminates a wide area;
  • low vulnerability of the source of light during its operation.
